Sophie oversees the development, production and testing of novel broad spectrum antiviral compounds.

Sophie received her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology specialising in protein biophysics and stability from the University of Canterbury. She held a postdoctoral position in the Computational Biophysics Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, during which she investigated the biophysics and aggregation of intrinsically disordered proteins associated with neurodegenerative diseases.

Sophie subsequently worked as a Senior Scientist and Manager in the National Radiation Lab, Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd (ESR), the Lead Scientist for the New Zealand Defence Force in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive threats, and as a Principal Advisor for the Ministry of Health’s Emergency Management Team.

In addition to her role with Kimer Med, Sophie is a Qualified Expert with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Mechanism for Investigation of Alleged Use of Chemical and Biological Weapons (UNSGM).
