Dr Colin Davies

Virologist

Colin leads Kimer Med’s viral research, advancing our understanding of drug efficacy and host-cell interactions, and helping drive drug development and mechanism of action studies. He brings international drug development experience from working in academia, biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

Colin received his undergraduate and postdoctoral degrees from the University of Otago in Microbiology and Microbiology, specialising in Virology and viral-host interactions.

Following his PhD, he moved to the United Kingdom to work at the University of Cambridge on a postdoctoral fellowship. There he investigated viral immune evasion strategies across a range of human pathogens before working at AstraZeneca within the Mechanistic Biology and Screening team on small molecule oncology targets. Prior to this, he worked at Amphista, a Cambridge biotech company developing PROTAC drug degraders for oncology and neurology targets. Here he worked broadly across pre-clinical drug development including on clinical candidate AMX-883 which enters the clinic late 2026.
